Archaeology Mini-Camp with Scott Co Historical Society - REGISTRATION REQ, STARTS 6/12 at 10am

Best for ages 9-12. Ever wanted to be an archaeologist like Indiana Jones? Here’s your chance to try it out!  In this hour-long “mini-camp” with the Scott County Historical Society, you will get to discover what being an archaeologist all is about through a variety of activities.  You’ll learn how to read a map and create your own, “discover” and reconstruct an artifact, and create your own “research journal” for recording all your notes and clues to take home.

Drop by to watch and then create your own traditional rangoli sand painting with Spotlight artist Shakun Maheshwari.

Shakun is a visual artist who works in many genres. She began her artistic life in her native India, learning traditional folk arts from her mother and aunties, with formal art training in graphic design, photography, and more. Shakun uses her folk art background to make connections with other cultures and is dedicated to teaching all students the creative process.
